Cesar's Quiet Cuts

The NBCU News Group — which houses NBC News, MSNBC, CNBC, and Telemundo — has cut dozens of jobs over the last several weeks, sources tell Status.

Cesar Conde's news palace is undergoing a stealthy fall cleaning.

The NBCU News Group — which houses NBC News, MSNBC, CNBC, and Telemundo — has cut dozens of jobs over the last several weeks, according to people familiar with the matter. The company has opted to do so in a piecemeal fashion which has kept the belt tightening and restructuring flying mostly under the radar.

In September, as we reported at the time, NBC News laid off a handful of staffers as it eliminated a unit (some of the impacted employees were offered similar roles in other parts of the company). Meanwhile, this week, CNBC carried out a round of painful layoffs, hitting staffers in multiple divisions.

Since the cuts at NBCU News Group are not being executed in one fell swoop…
