Over the summer, CNN discreetly pulled its high-profile primetime programs from CNN Max. The move was made quietly and without any explanation.

When CNN Max launched last September, the network boasted that the programming lineup would feature “the most notable worldwide CNN anchors.” Indeed, the launch schedule for live-programming initially included programs such as “Erin Burnett OutFront,” “Anderson Cooper 360,” and “The Source with Kaitlan Collins.”

Fast forward 12 months, though, and none of those programs can be found on the nascent service, which curiously remains in beta mode as it prepares to celebrate its one-year anniversary next week as a tab on Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming platform Max.

Over the summer, CNN discreetly pulled the high-profile primetime programs from CNN Max. The move was made quietly and without any explanation. Outside a few stray tweets, it seemed to go unnoticed.

But removing its most visible talent from the roster was a significant decision. When CNN Max went to air, Cooper served as the face of the streamer in the press release, which featured a screen shot of program on the streaming platform’s interface. Now, the primetime show hosted by CNN’s most recognized anchor is nowhere to be found. (Cooper’s Sunday evening program, “The Whole Story,” remains on CNN Max.)
