The future of the highest-profile tech conference is in the air.

Vox Media's Code Conference, an annual gathering that features the biggest names in Silicon Valley sit for news-making interviews, will not take place this year, people familiar with the matter told me. Outside missing a year for the pandemic, it's the first time the annual confab has not taken place in its more than two-decade history.

A spokesperson for Vox Media confirmed that the conference has been put on hold. The spokesperson referred to Code as a "strong franchise," but declined to share further information about its future.
