Thompson Turns to Tyrangiel
While news of Tyrangiel’s potential hire is sure to excite many at CNN, it’s not difficult to see how others at the network might not be so thrilled.

Mark Thompson, nearing his one-year anniversary as CNN's chief executive, is looking to announce a big hire as he looks to put his stamp on the network.
Thompson, I'm told, is in serious conversations with Josh Tyrangiel to strike a deal that would bring the veteran media executive aboard to help steer the network's ship through the turbulent waters it finds itself in.
Tyrangiel, currently a columnist at The Washington Post, previously served in senior roles at Bloomberg and TIME magazine. His most recent role was at Vice News, where he was the driving force behind the Emmy-award winning "Vice News Tonight" before it was canceled.
It's unclear precisely what Tyrangiel's role at CNN would entail. Neither Tyrangiel nor CNN offered comment for this story. But a good bet would be…
