On Tuesday morning, MSNBC boss Rashida Jones got to work making a series of phone calls. Jones had spoken with Mark Lazarus, the NBCUniversal executive who was recently tasked with overseeing the progressive news network, about her looming departure last week during a one-on-one meeting at 30 Rock. But her top deputies and stable of high-profile anchors were still in the dark, unaware of her imminent exit. It was time to change that.
